Operational teams
The Education Standards Board is supported by four operational teams who undertake regulatory work on behalf of the board.
School registration services
Led by Lynette Bellwood, the team registers and reviews schools and maintains the Schools Register. The team recommends schools for registration on the CRICOS; monitors schools’ compliance under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 and registers student exchange organisations.
Quality assurance
Gemma D'Angelo leads the quality assurance team. Authorised officers and staff receive and assess applications from education and care providers and services under the National Quality Framework (NQF) and develop and monitor the annual regulatory strategy.
In executing the strategy, the team is responsible for assessing and rating early childhood services and delivering education and support to regulated entities.
Compliance and investigation
Amanda Nash leads the compliance and investigation team monitors and responds to notifications and complaints received under the NQF. The team undertakes investigations and recommends statutory and administrative compliance action in response to non-compliance, in accordance with the National Law and regulatory principles and to deliver or advance regulatory outcomes.
Corporate services
The corporate services team supports our regulatory teams and board members to execute regulatory functions, led by George Keros. The responsibilities of the team include financial management, human resources, information technology, communications, records management and facilities management.

The role
The Investigator assists the Senior Investigator in conducting investigations following notification of incidents and complaints to assess and determine legislative breaches. The Investigator undertakes investigations from complaints, notifications and incidents to achieve appropriate and proportionate outcomes for children under the scope of the Education and Early Childhood Services (Registration and Standards) Act 2011, and the Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011.
About you
- You have experience in investigations that deal discreetly with confidential matters.
- You are analytical with attention to detail.
- You are experienced in preparing, reviewing and assessing briefs, reports and documentation for compliance action and/or court proceedings.
- You can interpret legislation and the application of legislation in policy and process.

Our main functions are:
- approving early childhood services

The Education Standards Board is located in the CBD in modern office facilities close to public transport and Rundle Mall. We employ approximately 40 staff.
